Instead of forceful medication, time travel in my La Jetée is an act of self-reflection. In the film, the man constantly yearns for an image that has haunted him for decades, and seeks to decipher what it truly means.

Time travel happens when the man stares into the mirror as the mirror takes him back into the past. As all moments of reflection and reminiscing do, the act of time travel comes at an existential cost.
